
Testicular cancer is a relatively rare cancer and account for about 1-1.5% of all cancers in men. It commonly affects young men in the third and fourth decades of life. It is treated by excision and are very responsive to radiation and chemotherapy and so in these days testicular cancers show excellent cure rates.
Our clinic provides tests and treatment to treat this uncommon but potentially lethal cancer, mostly occur in relatively young men with sudden onset of scrotal swelling without any pain on one side. After a detailed examination by our urologists, the following tests may be requried:
- Blood tests for markers for testicular cancer: alpha-fetal protein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)
- CT imaging of thorax, abdomen and pelvis: to look for any spread of the disease
- Urgent surgery: removal of the testicular cancer early will help establish the histological diagnosis and planning for subsequent radiotherapy or chemotherapy
