Prostate biopsy

MRI ultrasound fusion targeted prostate biopsy with Artemisprostate biopsy corestargeted prostate biopsyPerformed with the guide of the transrectal ultrasound. Prostate tissue is obtained and sent for histopathology to detect the presence of cancer cells. The procedure is done under local anaesthesia with or without sedation in our clinic. It can be performed nowadays via different approaches:

  • Transrectal ultrasound guided template prostate biopsy: with the guide of the transrectal ultrasound, prostate tissue is obtained and sent for histopathology to detect the presence of cancer cells. The procedure is done under local anaesthesia with or without sedation in our clinic

  • Transperineal prostate biopsy: prostate tissue is obtained via the perineum to the prostate, its advantages include low infection risk and ability to obtain tissue from most anterior part of the prostate

  • MRI-Ultrasound fusion prostate biopsy: this is an accurate method of obtaining prostate tissue in a targeted manner based on MRI prostate findings. It can be done via transrectal or transperineal route under monitored anaesthesia care
